Today is the last day of our trip. We have been traveling for three months. I am sitting at a restaurant in Bangkok, on the 32nd floor admiring the skyline.
Many people think of Thailand as a tropical beach destination, but this skyline reminds me that Thailand is many things to many people. For me, it was an opportunity to get out of the rat race and gain some perspective.
We were fortunate enough to be able to explore some of the less touristy parts of Thailand. We also had enough time to get to know people and learn a little bit about the culture. Thai culture is very different from ours. I admire and respect Thai people's work ethic, patience and generosity. I think a girl we met early on our trip captured the Thai spirit well by saying: "I think people here have it pretty much figured out: just stay calm, be nice and have fun."
I really enjoyed this trip. We got a chance to learn more about the world and about ourselves. For me, it was a truly humbling experience.
